Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data when you use VOWordCounter.com (the "Website") and its tools, the Script Counter and the Script Timer (the "Service"). It applies to everyone who visits the Website. The short version: our tools run entirely in your own browser, the script text you paste in is never sent to us, and we keep the outside services we rely on to a minimum. The sections below spell out the details.

1. The Scripts You Paste Never Leave Your Browser

Both the Script Counter and the Script Timer do all of their work locally, inside your web browser, using JavaScript that runs on your own device. When you paste or type a script into either tool, that text is processed on your machine. It is not transmitted to a VOWordCounter server, not stored in any database, and not sent to any third party. There is no server-side processing of your script content at all. If you were to disconnect from the internet after the page loaded, the tools would still count and expand your text.

We are able to make this claim plainly because of how the Service is built: the counting and expansion engine is a pure client-side library with no network calls involved in processing your text.

2. No Accounts, No Login, No User Database

The Service does not require you to create an account or log in. We do not maintain a database of users, and there is nothing to sign up for in order to use the tools. Because there are no accounts, we hold no usernames, passwords, or profile data about you.

3. Data Stored On Your Own Device

To make the tools more convenient, the Website saves a few small pieces of information in your browser's local storage. This is first-party functionality only, it is not tracking, and none of it ever leaves your browser. Specifically, we store:

  • Your checkbox preferences on the Script Counter, so your chosen expansion options are remembered.
  • Your in-progress script text, so it survives an accidental page refresh.
  • Your preferred words-per-minute setting on the Script Timer.
  • Your cookie-consent choice, so we do not ask you again on every visit.

You can clear all of this at any time using your browser's "clear site data" or "clear local storage" controls.

4. Analytics and Third-Party Services

We use a small number of outside services to keep the Website running and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used. None of them receive the scripts you process.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics (gtag.js) to measure page views and general traffic patterns. It runs under Google's Consent Mode v2. On every visit the tag loads and sends a page-view signal, but before you make a cookie choice, or if you decline, that signal is anonymized and cookieless: no _ga cookie is set and no persistent visitor ID is created. Only after you click "Accept" does Google Analytics switch to full cookie-based analytics for your browser. See our Cookie Policy for the specifics.

Ahrefs Web Analytics. We use Ahrefs Web Analytics for basic, privacy-friendly traffic measurement. It is cookieless by design: it sets no cookies and uses no persistent identifiers, so it runs on every page regardless of your cookie choice.

Kit.com (formerly ConvertKit). If you choose to enter your email address into the newsletter signup form on our homepage or contact page, that form is provided by Kit.com, a third-party email service. When you submit it, Kit.com receives and stores your email address under its own privacy policy so we can send you updates. If you never use that form, no email address of yours is collected.

Cloudflare Pages. The Website is hosted as static files on Cloudflare Pages. As with any web host, Cloudflare may process standard technical request data (such as IP addresses) to serve pages and protect the site from abuse, in line with its own privacy terms.

5. Cookies

The only cookies this Website may set are the Google Analytics cookies described above, and only after you accept them. Everything else we store is first-party local storage, not cookies. For a full breakdown of each cookie and storage item, what it does, and how the Accept/Reject choice works, please see our dedicated Cookie Policy.

6. The Contact Form

The contact form on the Website is presentation plus a mailto: link. When you click "Send message," your own email application opens with a pre-filled message addressed to us. Nothing is transmitted to or stored on a VOWordCounter server or database. Any email you then choose to send reaches us the same way any other email would, and we use it only to respond to you.

7. Data Retention

Because the tools run in your browser and we operate no user database, there is very little for us to retain. We do not keep copies of your scripts, and the on-device data described in Section 3 lives only in your browser until you clear it. Aggregate analytics data is retained by Google and Ahrefs according to their own retention settings. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users who are at least 13 years old, consistent with our Terms of Use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address it.

9. Your Rights and Contact

Since we hold almost no personal data about you, most data requests are straightforward: the information tied to your use of the tools lives on your own device and is yours to clear at any time. If you have used the newsletter form and want your email removed, you can do so through Kit.com's unsubscribe link or by contacting us. For any privacy question, or to make a request regarding your data, email us at info@vowordcounter.com.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, and any dispute relating to it is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Chennai, India, consistent with our Terms of Use.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. Your continued use of the Website after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy, so we encourage you to check this page occasionally.
